The best thing is most of those can be acquired rather cheaply.  Easy to build a very nice collection that has lots of eye appeal and interesting info.

Too bad there isn't a dedicated website out there just for these cards....  guess someone will have work on that... LOL.

Love that battleship. There's some interesting background on it in the just-finished "Tell me a Story" contest.

Definitely!!! Long lost engraving returned/confiscated by BEP after several decades in the wild.

Tell me a story, Post #6.

Takes some practice. [confused] More practice? OK, I assume you do the full post Before doing the linky thing.

Easy...

Step 1 - type in your text like you want it displayed....

Come see a forgotten piece of history....

Step 2 - go to the website address in a new tab / page you want to copy and copy the address to memory.  In this case http://www.depressionscrip.com

Step 3 - Go back to your forum post and highlight the text you want to change into a link.  Once highlighted, click on the LINK button above (chain link symbol), and paste in the link from memory.  Hit OK.

Results...

Come see a forgotten piece of history.....

Not as easy as the old forum where it asked you for a title and then link address and did it for you.  But, it still works.  You can go back and edit your old post too.  Just follow the steps above.

Getting back on topic, here's a card I finally picked up to fill a hole in my collection. This is B273, one of the last cards with a currency design issued by the BEP.

Ah, now that one is interesting, thavs1. Because it's actually a cut-down repurposed souvenir card from many years ago -- SO35. The ANA contracted with American Bank Note to print a number of "semi-official" cards in the 1980s. But not all of these were sold, so the ANA was left with a lot of surplus cards. Instead of taking a loss, they chopped off the dates and information related to the original show and reprinted the cards, usually on the back, as giveaways for later shows. There are more than a dozen of these repurposed cards and the SCCS has discussed whether they should be given catalog numbers but presently the answer is "no."

I haven't seen any new ones like this over the past five years or so, and I assumed they had depleted their stockpile. But apparently not! I was actually at the Denver show but I didn't see these -- how did you come by it? Would you mind scanning the back, as well?

GregAlex,

Here is the back. I picked 2 of these up at the 50th Anniversary of the ANA headquarters open house August 6 in Colorado Springs .
