This is exactly why we need a section for educational threads. 

Having a master thread for users to easily access this type of info would be very convenient for users, and would also be a great addition to the forum and for the hobby.

Plates from various series years were used concurrently.  A press held four plates.  In your case, there were both Series 1934 and 1934-A plates on the same press at the same time.
