There was a post recently about how to properly add an eBay picture to a post so it doesn't disappear after a couple weeks when eBay deletes the auction. Can someone kindly steer me to that thread?

Not sure that answers the question - importantly, when linking pictures using the picture icon and choosing a URL link, does it merely embed the link, or does it copy the source and link that? I know what a URL embed will do but what does the picture icon do with images - once linked does it go away when the original URL becomes unavailable?

OK clicked "View Image Info" on the picture and copied the address
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/y~oAAOSw44BYcQ28/s-l500.jpg that automatically inserts/pastes the picture [s-l500]into the reply like this.

I originally used the "camera" icon using copy/paste in the post in the Souvenir Cards section. I'm wondering if the image will stay as it links to ebayimg.com website or disappear after a couple weeks? Hoover over image and its the ebay site not this forums cloudfront.net . I'll just copy and use the "insert photo" icon image to my computer and upload that picture. See photo below that's on cloudfront.net link.

i use windows snipping tool. I would think a URL is dynamic and if no longer available, your post would reflect that.  Many sites do not allow "hot linking" using their images on their server in other forums.

A "snip" has all the relevant info, title, seller, picture, shipping, etc. Once posted wherever, I just delete it from my computer if I don't need to keep it.

Once uploaded to the site, it is there forever, no "photobucket" crap, or third party taking hostage of your posts.

Like Dan C. mentions, this forum no longer requires photo hosting. All of the photos I post here come from my iPad photos file. They do not disappear from here after I delete them from my files. I do a lot of screenshots and edit out unnecessary crap before posting here.

If you copy/paste it will store the image on this site's host not link to the original.

Copy image.  Not copy image address.

Thanks Jim.  Jeeze, I can't believe I made it so complicated. 😳 Getting old and senile.

FYI copy paste is a great way to end up with a bad link - it will often work for you to see it but not others, and eventually you will see the same bad link - because where it is hosted (Amazon, others) only gives the photo when served directly, and your local browser cache will expire the link.

Try it for instance with LK's site. You can copy an image and paste it and it will show up, now open a different browser you don't normally use (IE, Edge, because they suck ballz) and go to your post in that. See? No image...
