I notified him.

Let's see what happens.

I presume the seller is inexperienced and made an honest mistake.

Recently I have seen a few large size notes offered like this.   I always contact the sellers to let them know that unless they photographed in b & w or sepia they were fakes.  Based on the other items they are selling most of these sellers were not currency guys so I do not believe they have any real money into them as they are part of larger clean outs etc.  They are usually pretty good about it as they know the kind of misery they could be inviting on themselves.  I see 2 to 5 times more problems with Confederate replicas offered as genuine.

Honestly I feel bad for these unsuspecting people who may get taken on a fake note.

Here's one that swears that it's an error one sided $500! Sorry for the tiny image, it was his.

Winning bidder with a feedback of 1 just paid $729 for this fake, oversized, single-sided facsimile.

I sent the seller an email before it ended, explaining it's a novelty note nothing else. He did have a reserve on it and no one exceeded it. He did thank me for the information.

That fake $500 has been listed before...

Thanks Joe.  Yes the $500 has been up a few times.  There is some small writing just below the lower left serial number that caught my eye....does not appear to be part of the BEP package.

That's right @notehunter494 Tom. That printing is just catalogue info from the novelty printer. I pointed out to him that a real $500 would be the size of the $5 note he had up with it for comparison.

Holy crappers Joe I didn't even see the comparison photo until coming back after reading your response to my post.  The listing photo is all the time I could afford it.  LOL!

I find it hard to believe that a person who has $729 to spend on a note would buy this obvious fake piece of junk. That is insane.

The seller indicated in the listing that it belongs to his grandson.

Of course it does - I mean all grandkids have large $500 replica notes they need to have tech-savvy grandpa sell on eBay.

What a load of crap...
