Hey guys I recently acquired a PCGS graded note from the TIN CAN HOARD which got me thinking. What other hoards for currency are out there? I currently have pieces from the Wall of Greed and Ephrata Find.

The tin can hoard was a bunch of notes found stashed away in a tin can that was stored in a hollowed out tree in the Midwest discovered a few years back. The Ephrata Find was a bunch of notes found stashed away in a box that was found in an abandoned barn!

I’m not big into hoards, but when I read about the Ephrata Hoard, I was a bit intrigued...and picked up this completely original note for my Low Grade PQ set. From all of the notes from the Ephrata Hoard I have seen, outside of one or two in AU grades, this was the only one I’ve seen that receive an EPQ/PPQ designation...which is why I bought it. 😉

Enamored with VF-35 and lower grade PPQ/EPQ notes!

I was told first hand about many of these "hoards", and I hate to be a bring-down, but a lot of these "hoards" were marketing ploys.  The Tin Can one is especially speculative. Many are just a location where the deal was purchased and nothing really exciting. Grading services will put whatever you want on a holder if you pay the pedigree fee.

The "pedigree" adds only a curiosity value to the notes.

Wall of Greed and Miami Beach are legitimate finds.

You can have any note from Buzz's basement coffee can hoard for twice face.  Please place advance orders so I know how many to put in there.

I think we should make our own hoard. I'll take an empty cardboard box of Tampax maxi-pads, you guys send me some notes, I'll put them in the empty box and seal them up in my house. In 100 years someone will tear the wall down and find the box full of money, and they'll call it something like the Tampax Hoard or the Red Flood Hoard. PM me for the address to send your notes to.
