This is a book I picked up a while back.  I was able to get it pretty cheap because the cover is rough.  I took a shot at talking the seller down as I was pretty sure they had no idea what they had.

So the title of the book is - GOES Selling Helps, Lithographed Certificate Borders & Stock Certificates.  It's pretty large - 17" x 9 3/4".  There's over a 100 different examples in the book.  The main reason I bought it is there are several GOES forms that were used in the printing of depression scrip.  Such as Forms 476, 650, 651, 652, 653, 654, 655, 656, 657, and 658.   I'm guessing this is from the 1940's or 50's since the phone number includes an area code.   Could be later, but I don't know.

This is the best $23 I ever spent.

I counted them while I'm watching a movie...  157 examples in the book.  Actually, for a brief moment before I bought it, I thought about separating it into individual pages and selling them one at a time.  But, I really hate it when someone does that and destroys a neat looking book.  Then I thought about taking it apart and scanning each and every page.  But at a 157 scans and I would have to be very careful to keep them in the original order.... ya, haven't found that time for that one either... maybe someday.....

What an incredible find! So that works out to about 15¢ per bound-in sample -- not too shabby. Glad you decided to keep it intact.

Some years ago I was touring a little printing museum on the coast of Oregon and came across a similar GOES sample book, probably from the 1930s. That one wasn't for sale, but I snapped a few pics.

The GOES company address has a ZIP code so no earlier than 1963.

Nice... didn't look at it that way.  I was hoping it was older than the 1960's.  Nice pics Greg.

These pop up on Ebay all the time.  But they are usually pretty pricey in my opinion.  There are 2 on there right now....  This one seems like an early version...  Link and then this one is more like mine - Link.
