So I was Chatting with Cody this morning via Facebook chat and the topic of Will Our Generation (1980-1986) See a National Banknote Hoard Discovery. Being a True Non Collector Hoard. Like a Barn Fresh hundreds of notes or a skip generation estate that no one knows whats in it. I mean Cash Hoards of small size type are discovered all the time and usually yield a handful of nationals. Still some large size hoards coming out of the closet every year also. As a Dealer I like to dream of all the treasures that await the collecting world.

Whats your Take?

I think it's certainly very possible. Having worked at a bank for a little while and seeing the kinds of stuff people keep in safe deposit boxes that nobody else in their family knows about, as well as when family members come in to deposit cash they found in a loved one's stuff, there is definitely still stuff floating around out there. The ability to find a group on Facebook and post pictures asking about stuff that's found or inherited makes our general knowledge of such discoveries much quicker (as well as our ability to provide meaningful feedback).

With an entire generation of Baby Boomers that are rapidly approaching end-of-life, I feel we may see more and material that has been tucked away for decades. Some of their heirs might be overwhelmed and have no idea where to turn or who to ask.

I see "mini-hoards" all the time.  Mostly Chicago FRNs, but also some real nice small size FRBNs have appeared.
