“How can somebody offer me $925 but collectors and dealers like yourself think that offer is to high? Well it's because the person who offered me $925 may want it to enjoy himself and maybe pass it down to future generations of his family. “

I think you have issues. Somewhere Along the line some dummy told you it was worth a fortune. You refuse to believe anything else. You have guys here on this thread that buy and sell this stuff all day, honest guys, not sleazy back alley dealers and you still refuse to believe what they’re saying. You think everybody is trying to rip you off. If your were offered $925 for this note and didn’t take it you should get your head examined. Your just another uniformed person who thinks he found gold. Good luck with that.

In truth, a note is worth above face only what one buyer and one seller agree it is on any given day. It is always possible you will come across a specific collector willing to pay a higher price than most, maybe significantly higher. But also possible you wont or it will take a very long time to find that person. No one here us trying to dissuade you from trying to get whatever price you like, but since you offered it here it is natural for people here to offer you realistic advice. Your note is not unique. Far from it. If someone will pay you $925, grab that cash, as the offer is quite generous.

Ultimately it is your decision and you shouldn’t feel bad or pressured about just wanting to keep it... much less getting as much as you can from it.

However I would value it about $600 (I would want to pay less) personally and if offered $925 I would say sold. Cool note do what you want with and it don’t look back!

This thread has obviously gotten out of hand. One thing I agree with "cornfrog" on is I am just another uniformed person who thinks he found gold. One thing I don't agree with is his attempts to belittle and disrespect me.

I would think members would refrain from actions like his instead of arguing with people less knowledgeable than himself on currency collecting. I do appreciate the information that was shared with me but come on "cornfrom", take some lessons from other members on how to communicate. I'm over let's move on.

Not quite sure how my remarks could be interpreted as "belittling" and "disrespecting" you, but I certainly apologize if you feel that way.   [smile]
You seldom get more than you pay for, but you can very easily get less.

So...remember that communication is a two way street. Just a reminder that I, someone who was in your shoes a few years ago, spent a lot of time writing up a lengthy reply trying to talk you through all of your options with your note and helping you understand some basics regarding value within the hobby...you didn’t reply.

I then reached out to you via a PM (Private Message) offering to chat with you about anything in that message, since I was in your shoes a few years ago. I also offered to answer any and all questions you may have about the hobby...this from the perspective of someone who’s been taken advantage of on the coin side of the hobby. You also chose not to reply to this request as well.

When people come to a forum like this to sell a note that you think is worth a lot more than it actually is, be aware that no one is going to give you what you want for it just because you think or want it to be worth that much. It’s not an insult to you or trying to take advantage of you because you are uneducated in the hobby.

If you are unwilling to listen to the advice of respected experts in the hobby and automatically think they are all trying to rip you off, that’s on you. I, for one, and several other people have tried to help educate you on your note and it’s potential value. If you are unwilling to listen to it and are hellbent on thinking everyone here is insulting you by trying to educate you and they are trying to rip you off by offering a fair market price, then that’s on you too.

The only way that I learned more about the value of notes and the hobby in general was by communicating with others in the hobby...and listening to their advice, asking more questions, researching things on my own, and then asking more questions...and listening to their answers. If you choose not to listen, then you choose not to learn. If you choose not to learn, you choose to be misinformed. If you choose to be misinformed, that’s when you get taken advantage of is this hobby...and just about anything else in life.

Take this into consideration when it comes to evaluating the advice you’ve been given and your experience on this forum. If you really received a legitimate offer for $925, take it and run. That is the best advice anyone here can give you. I wish you well on selling your note. And the offer stands if you want to chat more with me directly. Take it or leave it, that’s up to you. Peace out!
Obsessed with originally and PPQ/EPQ notes!

Na, know one was trying to insult me. I'll just file it under constructive criticism. It's all good. Advice appreciated.
