I sifted through my old wooden nickel collection today, which I haven't touched in years. It was interesting to see that although they are mostly the same shape, they aren't all wooden "nickels". A handful had unusual denominations, so I thought I'd post them and see whether anyone had similar items.

And I even found a flat wooden "dime"...

Well there Greg, finally one you STILL have and I don't! [thumb] I did have a binder full of wooden nickels up until a few months ago. My WW II Vet friend was wanting something aside from coins to keep him busy, so I donated my wooden nickel collection to him with some research literature. He was just tickled pink to see them and start browsing. And NOOOOooooo! Unlike the the "other" string that I re-hooked myself with, I am NOT pursuing wooden nickels!

We'll, if we're being honest, I don't actively collect these anymore. But I haven't figured out what to do with my meager collection. I need a friend who needs a project. :-D

Poking around in a box of stamps, I turned up another piece of wood. This one is quite timely! It's a wooden dollar commemorating the 1969 moon landing, 50 years ago in July.
