Do I see Franklin Roosevelt on the top one?

Hugo Black - former justice of the supreme court and US senator.  That's really cool.  Those are some monster short snorters in that box from years ago, Lettow!  Wow!!  Can't wait to see those unfurled!

The Roosevelt doesn't look like his signature.  I tried to find examples from this time period and his early/late autographs and this one doesn't look right.  Might be worth getting it authenticated.

The Roosevelt is genuine.  It is part of the same roll as the Bahamas note.  The original owner was a Brass Hat Squadron pilot.  It has 28 notes with over 150 signatures.

I took a flyer on it on Ebay.  Seller had poor pictures.  The only identifiable signature in the pictures was Xavier Cugat.

Rbethea, you missed the real prize on the Bahamas note.

That's because I don't see any other big names!  It's a who's who of generals, to be sure.  But I must be missing someone or it's one I can't read.  I see:

D. H. Edwards, Maj. Gen. (Maybe I.H. but Idwal wasn't made a major general until '48...)
R(aymond) O. Barton, Maj. Gen.
Edward Leonard Shannon
R(obert) L. Walsh, Maj. Gen.
Hugo Black
William L. Daniel Jr.
"Fearless" W. Holt
Ken McGregor
Don C. ?, Col.
S.C. E??, Jr.
Robert T. Burrton, Jr.
Ted Reimer

Who'd I miss?!  Obviously I just don't recognize someone.

I guess that tassel on the E of Edward is a crown.

Oh, that's pretty cool!  How did you identify that?  Are you familiar with autographs?  From only "Edward"...

I saw that and wondered if that was King George but wasn't sure as I had no idea how he signed his name in such circumstances... if it's him it's tremendously cool... FDR and King George VI...

Not King George.  His name was signed George RI (Rex et Imperator, the I was dropped in 1947). Edward is his brother, the Duke of Windsor and Governor-General of the Bahamas where he was exiled with Mrs. Simpson.

I actually guessed. After Jim said who we missed I started looking for a "Windsor" ending name to no avail. I then rotated the picture 90 degrees (x4). I then wondered if that tassel on the "E" represented a crown.
Edward VIII (born Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David, 23 June 1894 – 28 May 1972) was King of the United Kingdom, from 20 January 1936 until 11 December 1936.

A search for Idwal Hubert Edwards shows he was commissioned to major general (temporary) Feb. 5, 1943;

Sorry - I meant, how did Lettow identify it in the first place?
