It's never good to have "hospitalized" in the thread title, but let me first say this is NOT Covid related. We learned a couple days ago that our SCCS Journal editor and past president Bill Kriebel suffered a serious fall on March 6. There was a long period where no one could reach him and it wasn't until I received a letter from him wife that we learned what had happened. After a few days, he was moved to a rehab facility and last weekend was transferred to a skilled nursing facility, where he is recovering slowly. I haven't spoken with him, so I don't have any further details, but as I learn more I will post here. I'm sure he could use everyone's positive thoughts.

This occurred just before the next SC Journal was to be completed, so that issue will be delayed. I will probably pick up the slack as acting editor for at least the near term.

That is unfortunate news... Wishing and praying for a speedy and full recovery for him, as well as safety while he is in the facility... ðŸ™

Yesterday, through some internet sleuthing, I was able to track down a phone number for Bill's daughter in Massachusetts, who put me in touch with Bill directly and I was able to gather more details. Bill fell down some stairs at home on Mar. 6 while his wife was out of town and was not able to get help for more than two days(!) until she returned and discovered him. Miraculously he didn't break any bones. He went to a hospital in Philadelphia for three days, then to a rehabilitation center, and is now in the assisted living wing of Atria City Center, under Pennsylvania's lockdown. It sounds like staff are taking a lot of precautions to prevent infection, which is good.

He said the SCCS auction will have to be suspended for now, but the SC Journal was nearly finished when the accident happened. So it may be possible to get that published sooner than expected. More than likely we will put it out in electronic form this time. He's been locked out of his email, but is hoping to get reconnected in the next day or two and he will start catching up on the backlog.

Things could be a lot worse. We will work through things over the next week.

That was terrible to find out those details. We all like to make fun of those medic alert necklaces but it sure would have saved a lot of pain he went thru if he had had one. Makes you think about family or friends that may live alone that could benefit having this device. Hoping he's on the road to a full recovery.

Well, it took a while, but I managed to finally put out the Second Quarter issue of the Souvenir Card Journal, while Bill remains out of commission. I faxed it to him for a final review and apart from a couple small corrections, he gave it a green light!

FYI: While Greg is helping out he is accepting Paypal for dues instead of the old snail mail method. Makes it easy to renew guys! Ã°Å¸ËœÆ’ I re-upped for 2 years. 🙋

Added: The print edition for the 2nd quarter will be by PDF (only?) as their printer is shut down for covid.

THANKS Greg!!! Luckily I wasn't taking a drink of coke while I read your post. 😂😂😂

I actually put off mailing my dues as I didn't have a stamp and would have to go to the post office to mail in my dues. Bill sorta apologized for having to still use snail mail saying they hoped to eventually be able to use e-payments in the future. At 70 at least I still know how to mail a letter, unlike some youngsters that don't even know the term 'snail mail'.
