Nice notes. Thanks for sharing. Wonder if any California paper currency exists from the european exploration period from 1542 to 1769; the Spanish colonial period, 1769 to 1821; or the Mexican period, 1821 to 1848 ?

What about US bank notes from San Diego (CA); Astoria (OR) or Steilacoom(WA) ? Thanks.

A few Washington notes found online. Apparently the Spanish and Mexicans didn’t use Paper Currency on the West Coast.

The first banknotes issued by the Mexican state were produced in 1823 by Emperor Agustin de Iturbide in denominations of 1, 2 and 10 pesos. Presumably these were circulated in California and other Mexican possessions in North America. ( Wikipedia )
